HED KANDI @ SHARM EL SHEIKH, EGYPT

...

by Jack McCord

Salaam ! Back to everybody's favourite outdoor Sinai nightclub last Saturday... Pacha, Sharm El-Sheikh. This gig was one of the highlights of my summer last year and they're still raving about their Kandi New Year's Eve party so I was expecting great things even if it was low-season tourist wise. Apparently this was the coldest March in 150 years but in spite of this and a few...

Biography:"I hate DJ biogs where it seems like the DJ has an ego the size of Equador and rambles on about how exciting, innovative and in-demand they are, when in reality, they are often fairly dull and haven't done a decent gig since Star Wars came out.

Here's what you need to know about me: I've been dj-ing since 6th form disco days and got my first job at Piccadilly Radio, Manchester after University. One year later, House Music hit me hard in the Hacienda and ever since then, I've tried to combine radio and dance music at the same time. I've been extremely lucky to play at some of the best clubs in the world...and I've also done a fair few toilets. I've had some amazing experiences along the way and there have also been times when I've wanted to give up, and come very close to doing so. I've achieved a few firsts along the way and I've also fallen flat on my arse too - that's how it is in this business. If you can't take the knocks then you shouldn't be doing it. I think I've been very very lucky.

Right now, I think I have the best job I've ever had working for Hed Kandi:I get to do radio every week and to play the kind of music I love in places as diverse as Ibiza, Colombia, Sheffield and Cardiff. Hed Kandi crowds are very special and very appreciative and in the end, it's all about keeping people vibed up and happy and being able to work in music is an absolute privilege.

Thanks so much to you for helping me do that.

If you want the full length, in depth rambling biog with all the nonsense then go take a look at my My Space page:http://www.myspace.com/djdaviddunnehedkandi

See you on the dancefloor...or on your radio."
