HED KANDI @ SHARM EL SHEIKH, EGYPT

...

by Jack McCord

Salaam ! Back to everybody's favourite outdoor Sinai nightclub last Saturday... Pacha, Sharm El-Sheikh. This gig was one of the highlights of my summer last year and they're still raving about their Kandi New Year's Eve party so I was expecting great things even if it was low-season tourist wise. Apparently this was the coldest March in 150 years but in spite of this and a few...

Ibiza Rocked
After a four month stay in Ibiza, I’m back in sunny England! The weather was as beautiful as the island; the people were half naked in the day and partied all night. It was tough, but my girlfriend and I managed as best we could.

The El Divino Encore was absolutely amazing. Jim Breese, Andy Warburton, Connor, me and Peyton – what can I say? I had only met Peyton that night and was really touched that he asked me to perform over his PA with him. I jammed over his three tracks and I absolutely loved it. He is a total gent and a very gifted man. We all had such a great time that no-one left until well after the seven o’clock curfew.

We landed back on the 1st of October (the night after the El Divino Encore) and I’ve already played in Newcastle, Leeds and Swansea for Hed Kandi, hit the ground running or what?!

I must admit acclimatising to the weather, getting back into the lifestyle and pace of UK life wasn’t difficult, just strange. Sorry to say goodbye to new friends, happy hellos to old ones, Sunday roasts instead of paellas, Kopperberg ciders instead if San Miguels. One thing is the same though – I just love gigging!

Everyone was so responsive in Ibiza, the El Divino crowd never disappointed (and thanks again for that). To be fair, you guys haven’t let us down here either...

At Sea (our new home in Newcastle), Andy Norman, Jamie Richards, Dean Rigg and Dan Baxter all played a blinder and it was great performing with Peyton again – he sang, I played, it rocked!

Discotheque (my first ever visit), was crazy, a stage invasion at twelve o’clock kind of set the scene for me, Andy Daniels and David Dunne! Another great gig, loads of classics, loads of hands in the air and slick production - I’m back there in November and I can’t wait.

John Jones, Andy Daniels and I were treated to another entertaining night at Play in Swansea – Kevin and Gavin the promoters made sure it was rammed, there were confetti cannons galore and lovely giant ‘Kandi i-pods’ hanging from the ceiling (I want one).

In the coming weeks I’m at the ‘Final Boarding’ party at Ministry of Sound that waves a final goodbye to Ibiza and the guys at Monarch until next summer, I’m also in Nottingham, Birmingham, Leeds, Cardiff and Colchester. All of which are fantastic parties and a chance for me to meet up again with friends from across the UK.

So come and say hello and don’t mock me too much for being ‘magnolia tan boy’ – the whitest person ever to come home from Ibiza after four months!
