Salaam ! Back to everybody's favourite outdoor Sinai nightclub last Saturday... Pacha, Sharm El-Sheikh. This gig was one of the highlights of my summer last year and they're still raving about their Kandi New Year's Eve party so I was expecting great things even if it was low-season tourist wise. Apparently this was the coldest March in 150 years but in spite of this and a few...
Jason has been DJing since the early ‘90s and his first break came when he moved to University in Manchester. After handing a tape (remember those?) into the infamous Dry Bar he was instead asked to play at the Hacienda and so his first club appearance was behind the decks of one of the most famous clubs in the world! Eventually he did play at Dry Bar, this leading to further gigs around Manchester securing residencies & regular appearances with local clubs/bars plus gigs with Retro (the highlight being to close the Retro promoted tent at Homelands festival).
Since then Jason’s never looked back, playing across the UK and further afield into Europe. During this time he made his first ventures to Ibiza playing for Garlands and Retro and at the same time continuing to play across the North of the UK plus helping to set up some local events in Manchester. There were also radio guest mixes for Kiss (thanks to a certain Mr Dunne), Galaxy and Key 103 stations in Manchester.
Since joining Hed Kandi in 2005 he's continued with a national and international schedule for the brand as one of their resident DJs which has seen him visit Vancouver, Munich, Frankfurt, Ibiza, Marbella, Rotterdam and Turkey as well as playing in most of the major clubs in the UK.
Jason’s pretty easy going when it comes to DJing and musically certainly likes to give the crowd what they want. His style is quite versatile thanks in part to clubbing in the early 90's when there was more variety in clubs. He moves across the house spectrum with Hed Kandi from soulful to funky to chunky to twisted and there's also a love of soul, funk, disco and classic hip-hop – all of which he still gets a chance to play out occasionally when he can.
