Peak Season

Hola my Kandi kin. Well I am sitting on my little balcony and there is a gale blowing here! Yes it appears that the slight unsettledness that can be characteristic of the second half of August has begun. Saying that, there is still so much of the season to go and so much partying to do. I have decided to make the most of what is actually really refreshing air and open all of the doors and windows in my apartment and give it a good airing.

This week saw a big public holiday all across Spain. What this has meant is that shops shut up and that towns and villages see many parties and celebrations. The Spanish of all ages love to go out en mass. Be that big family gatherings or throngs of partying clubbers. One such example was a free party that was held to celebrate this weekend on Cala Gracio, this also celebrated a lunar eclipse. I did not attend as I could not miss my appointment with our beloved Kandi, but I watched the eclipse from my balcony and have a number of friends who reported back that this was a true Ibiza party. Something to consider when people complain that some of this years stricter laws have stopped all of the different types of party that Ibiza has to offer.

Wednesday saw your B lazin' on a beach; I took a trip to a beach called Port de Torrent. This is sandy and well equipped and tends to be visited by families with young children. This is one of the few that makes you feel that you could be anywhere in Europe as you don’t get much sense of Ibiza’s rugged and distinctive coast here. That aside it is a nice little space and it was really amusing to sit and watch kids making sand castles.

Then, of course, I caught up with all of the boys and girls who work so hard to make HK the night that it is. This week we greeted Andy Norman and Colin Airey both of whom were on their second trip out here this season. As if this were not enough we were treated to a visit from Jack McCord who left Europe last year to return to his native Australia and work for Kandi there. It was really good to see him and he was raring to go despite having little sleep since he left Oz on Wednesday! Kandi’s trademark live element was provided by Lovely Laura and Pav.

The night of course was a great one, the music flowed and the Kandi crowd did not disappoint. The boys were in high holiday spirits and Laura was as always playing her heart out on the sax and treated us to a stint on Pav’s bongos, I have never seen her do this before, a musical talent indeed.

There I will leave you, as I sit and plan next weeks adventures, until then…… X
