Hola all. It has been another crazy week here for Miss B. As promised I am reporting back on island life and all things Kandi.
I started my adventures with something away from the main clubs. I was invited to join some ‘workers parties’ (although these are a mixture of seasonal workers and holiday makers). This was at the suggestion of Marco Loco who runs a fortnightly night at Hush called Ibiza Groove. Hush although situated on the edge of San Antonio’s West End, is a really nice little late night bar that gets busier and busier as the night goes on and builds a friendly party atmosphere as it goes. This is where my Tuesday night began and where I eventually left at about 6am!
However, the workers here work hard and play hard; snatching all the party time they can get between shifts. I was thus instructed to follow Mr Loco where I found myself at the San Antonio port, awaiting the arrival of a boat where at 7am several hundred party goers would board to set sail for four hours of partying at sea! This delight is called Shipwrecked and occurs every Wednesday. Marco rocked the crowd it has to be said, and every week there are guest DJs as well as live musicians, this week Ivan played beautiful melodic sax. This has a great atmosphere with loads of people to chat to and some really incredible views along Ibiza’s west coast (take a camera), not bad at all for 20/30 euros (workers/tourists).
As promised I will also tell you about the success of the La Vita breast cancer fundraiser that I mentioned last week. Despite being very tired from my extended ‘Tuesday night’ I did manage to get myself to the old zoo to witness some great DJing and a buoyant party atmosphere, as well as raising thousands of pounds for this good cause, an all round success for everyone concerned.
And so my friends to Hed Kandi. This week was a cracker; the island was particularly bustling as it was Radio One weekend. This had quite obviously affected the live wired clubbers who arrived to spend their Saturday at El Divino. DJ’s Phil Faversham and Carl Hanaghan were in attendance both of whom regularly work to find all of the tracks that appear on Kandi albums, so as your would expect there musical selection was bang on, a mixture of anthems and some new treats. As if this is not enough we were given a special guest appearance from the incredible Peyton, who accompanied on stage by Ian C and Lovely Laura belted out an amazing and uplifting set that made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up! This included hits ‘Higher Place’ and ‘Music in Me’ as well as some of his new material, including one that appeared perfectly designed for the occasion named ‘Holiday’. A night to remember for all attending I am sure! I wonder what next week will have in store?
